Point TV will be returning to the BEA NAB convention in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 8th through the 10th.
“The BEA Festival of Media Arts showcases the latest academic research projects, today’s top publishers to free software training labs, career advice for students to cutting-edge speakers, this is the one place where electronic media professionals and educators converge” According to the NAB BEA Convention website.
Students from Point Loma Nazarene University have been attending this convention for many years, having had a positive influence on the students attending.
“One of the coolest things about going to the BEA/NAB conference was seeing all the technology that I have always heard about and seen in pictures and then being able to actually hold and use it in person. What stuck out to me the most was seeing all the different red cameras and also testing out virtual reality for the first time.” Said Riley McQuown, junior Media Communication major.
At this year’s convention, students will have the opportunity to sit in on special events such as sitting in on a conversation with Larry Kraszewski, Golden Globe, and Emmy Winning Writer/Producer. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in many workshops such as one from Apple on Mobile Storytelling.
Point TV offers this opportunity every year to students. Some may go multiple years in a row, others are going for their first time.
“Being a Media Communications major, I am very excited to experience the BEA Convention for the first time. Having the opportunity to see the latest technology along with meeting the greatest minds within media and production is nothing short of a privilege.” Said Brianna De Melo, Junior media communication major.
The four-day convention officially starts April 7.
